The surviving members of the popular grunge band Nirvana are scheduled to reunite for a Superstorm Sandy benefit concert Wednesday evening, but rumor says they’ll be sporting an unlikely new frontman …

“Now a British tabloid reports that Sir Paul McCartney may take the place of late Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain to sing with that bands two surviving members … ”

“Nirvana will be reuniting and he will be the frontman?”
“Well, because Kurt Cobain has passed.”
“Right, that will be interesting.”
“If that’s true, we don’t know.”

According to the Guardian“The former Beatle will join Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl and bassist Krist Novoselic on stage in New York … Grohl and Novoselic have not performed with each other for 20 years.”

The group reportedly will also be joined by guitarist Pat Smear, who joined the band in the last few months before then-frontman Kurt Cobain took his own life. The Telegraph says don’t expect McCartney to try his hand at Nirvana classics like “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and “Lithium” however.

“Instead, the four will play a new song at the New York charity concert. The founding members have been secretly working on the track with Paul McCartney in a studio session after Sir Paul said he rang drummer Grohl … who asked him to come along to ‘jam with some mates’.”

In an interview McCartney told The Sun“I didn’t really know who they were. They are saying how good it is to be back together. I said ‘Whoa? You guys haven’t played together for all that time? And somebody whispered to me ‘That’s Nirvana. You’re Kurt.’ I couldn’t believe it.”

According to the Toronto Sun, “The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, The Who, and Eric Clapton are also on the bill” for Wednesday night’s event.
