Multiple reports point back to The Sankei Sports newspaper — saying McCartney was sent to the hospital because of an infection that worsened.

A spokesperson for McCartney wouldn’t confirm the singer’s hospitalization Tuesday — but called the cancellation “unavoidable” citing doctor’s orders. They added, Paul has been extremely moved by the messages from his fans and is upset to be letting them down. (Via USA Today)

McCartney had previously postponed performances on May 18 and 19 in Tokyo, and said on his website, I was really hoping that I'd be feeling better today. I'm so disappointed and sorry to be letting my fans down.” (Via paulmccartney.com)

A reporter for The Wall Street Journal in South Korea spoke with the guitarist for a Beatles cover band in the country which called McCartney its long-lost father. He said this was "the last shot for Koreans to see him."

So, these fans might be out of luck when it comes to seeing the former-Beatle, but they won’t be out any money.

Tickets were reportedly going for nearly $1,000 a pop. Concert promoters say they’re working on refunding those who bought tickets. (Via Channel NewsAsia)
