How does an NFL player spend his bye-week? If you are a New England Patriot – you would think - you’d be going over a detailed game plan.
But Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is drawing attention for all the wrong reasons after posing in these photos with porn star Bibi Jones. (Photo 1) (Photo 2)
The Arizona Daily Wildcat had this to say.
“Apparently Gronkowski wanted to take advantage of her much larger following on the social networking site. Seriously? Gronkowski approved this because he wanted to reap the benefits of a porn star’s Twitter following? Yikes.”
Gronkowski did issue in apology-- but anchors at WBZ in Boston say he didn’t need to.
“So she lives in Arizona. They met through mutual friends. Of course he went co college in Arizona. But the question is is that a big deal? Guy’s 21 years old, having fun, not married. It’s a picture. Seriously. That’s all it is.”
Bibi Jones confirms that-- saying nothing happened between the two. Sports Illustrated writer Jimmy Traina says otherwise.
“I believe this as much as I believe the Dolphins will win the Super Bowl this year.”
But ESPN’s Michael Wilbon says-- does it really matter to the Patriots either way?
“It doesn’t hurt anything. It doesn’t hurt his career. It doesn’t hurt the Patriots. It doesn’t hurt jack.”
Still, anchors for Boston’s WXFT point out-- the shirtless snap shot is still not the “Patriot Way.”
“But then there’s the Patriot way, which is what Bill Belichick famously tells these guys before every bye week. Don’t embarrass the organization, and don’t let me read about what you did on the bye week in the paper.”
But the guys on Sports Radio WEEI in Boston say-- c’mon-- “it was just a shirt.”
“First of all he wasn’t naked. They cropped it on Deaspin to make it look like he was. He had pants on. He had his shirt off. Hell if I had a six pack like that I’d have my shirt off as well. I mean, T.O. takes his shirt off…for everything.”
Gronkowski will have his jersey on on Sunday when the Pats take on the Steelers.
