It’s been quite the year for Paris Hilton who has had several run-ins with the law. The latest — cocaine. Hilton was arrested in Sin City for possession of cocaine adding yet another drug charge to her list. HLN’s Morning Express has the details.
“While in the security office, she extracted a tube of lip balm from her purse. At that time, a plastic bindle containing a substance believed to be cocaine fell from her purse in plain view of the metro lieutenant. This substance subsequently tested positive as cocaine.”
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times one legal expert says the arrest poses some challenges for prosecutors — noting things get a little tougher when celebrities are involved.
“First they are going to have to prove it’s her purse and then she had custody of it … when it comes to celebrities, often assistants and entourage handle things like that, so it becomes harder to show they are the ones with the item.”
And it seems Hilton is milking that challenge for all its worth. MSNBC reports Hilton immediately said it wasn’t her purse.
“Paris Hilton is denying that she owned a purse containing cocaine. … According to police, Hilton said the purse belonged to a friend and denied the drugs were hers.”
US Weekly has the police documents and says she had some pretty interesting excuses.
“When the officer asked her about the cocaine, Hilton ‘said she had not seen it, but now thought it was gum...’”
Fox News jokes about her mugshot — considering she’s had quite a few.
“It could be her best mugshot yet. I think it is actually, this is the best she’s ever looked upon arrest. Tough to choose though, there have been quite a few.”
Showbiz Tonight notes Hilton took time to tweet and thank fans for all the support.
“In a Twitter statement after her arrest, Hilton says quote ‘I’m so thankful to all my fans for all the love and support you are giving me.’”
So do you think Paris should join Lindsay and go to rehab?
