A Los Angeles paparazzo was killed Tuesday evening after trying to get a shot of Justin Bieber driving his Ferrari. CNN has the details.

“Police say the man snapped pictures of a sports car that he thought that the pop star was in. He was struck and killed crossing a freeway to return to his own car.”

According to the New York Daily News, the incident began when the California Highway Patrol pulled over Bieber’s white Ferrari on the 405 Freeway.

“Police directed the driver to exit the busy roadway onto Sepulveda Boulevard, and shortly afterwards the 29-year-old paparazzi, whose name has not been released, arrived to take pictures … The photographer crossed the street to take photos, but was directed by officers to return to his car.”

NBC News reports the officer on scene repeatedly warned the photographer that his position was dangerous.

According to authorities, the man did not look before attempting to re-cross the busy roadway. He was then struck by an SUV traveling southbound. The paparazzo was pronounced dead at UCLA Medical Center shortly after the collision happened.

According to the Associated Press, it wasn’t Bieber who driving the Ferrari but actually two of the singer’s friends. Justin Bieber and his publicist have yet to comment on the incident.
