Is the blonde bombshell getting her virginity back? – HLN explains Pamela Anderson’s new role.
“Pamela Anderson has gone from Baywatch to sex tapes to playing the Virgin Mary. OK. According to the Hollywood reporter she’s appearing in a Canadian Comedy show’s Christmas special this year playing that role.”
The comedy sketch titled “A Russel Peters Christmas” is set to air next month on Canada’s CTV network. A press release explains...
“...Peters puts his own irreverent twist on the Christmas special, making it unlike anything viewers have seen before. Along with the obligatory carolers, winter wonderland setting, and cheesy glad tidings...”
But-- Pam Anderson as Jesus’ mom? The anchors on WFXT discuss the somewhat ironic casting.
I don’t know. Using in the same breath the words...
Virgin and Pamela Anderson?
Pamela Anderson and Virgin Mary is so sacrilegious and ridiculous...
I keep waiting for the lightning to strike on this one...
I mean obviously it is a comedy, it’s a comedy to the Nth degree. For their sake I hope it’s so ridiculous and funny that people aren’t outraged at it but I think people will be...
Yeah I’m going to go with probably
But others say– hold up, it’s just a comedy. Director of Biola University’s Torrey Honors Institute tells the Christian Post...
“If the story of the Incarnation could survive me in Dad’s bathrobe as a juvenile shepherd, it will surely survive Anderson as Mary.. In God’s divine comedy, human history, will roll on.”
Even pastor Tom Nalesnik says the role is actually fitting. He writes in the Examiner...
“Pamela Anderson could actually empathize with Mary, since she herself has experienced criticism and ostracism for some of her own career choices and film roles."
But the pastor goes on to question Russel’s intentions with the movie. He writes...
“...will Russell Peters be doing his comedic sendup of Christmas in a positive way, or is he simply going for cheap laughs, in order to deride and mock the Christmas story?”
A blogger for the Washington Post argues a completely different point-- suggesting Anderson is just a ploy to grab attention. She writes...
“Never heard of Russell Peters, the Indo-Canadian comedian? Well, neither have many Americans, which is probably why he smartly recruited Anderson to play the Virgin Mary.”
Peters will be playing Jesus’ father Joseph. The show will also include other Canadian stars like Michael Buble, and Ted Lange. The show will air in Canada on December 1st.
