New Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen has wasted no time stirring up controversy in his new home. In an interview before a recent game, he went into detail about his postgame ritual. ESPN reports.

“The former Sox skipper says he likes to enjoy a few adult beverages after a game no matter if his team wins or loses.”

Guillen told the Palm Beach Post his ritual is nothing new. In fact, Guillen said he has been doing this for more than 25 years.

"I've got my routine. Game's over, stay in the lobby of the hotel, the hotel bar, get drunk and go to sleep.

Why does Guillen do this? According to CBSSports.com, the manager and former player says one reason is — it keeps him honest.

“I never get in trouble, you see that? I never leave the hotel. Nobody can call my wife and tell her they see Ozzie in this bar or place. ... If I got drunk and someone talked [smack] to me, there'd be a fight. I'm too little to fight.”

A reporter for WTVJ in Miami says Guillen’s statements are perhaps a little too casual for such a serious issue.

“There is a good chance that while he drinks every night, he probably does not really ‘get drunk.’ Making light of drunkenness will rub some people the wrong way.”

A columnist for SportsCrack applauds Guillen’s honesty.

“It's refreshing in a cynical sports world when an athlete or in this instance a manager can be honest when it comes to their drinking.”

A writer for the Sun Sentinel is on the fence about Guillen’s statement, noting honesty might not always be the best policy.

“Glad to hear he's not taking this celebration behind the wheel of a car, however, should there be some legitimate concern about his liver?”

The Marlins’ president of baseball operations says his team has no comment on Guillen’s statements.
