We’re one step closer to the 85th Academy Awards as Emma Stone and Oscar host Seth MacFarlane announced the nominees Thursday morning.

Of course, it wouldn’t be the Oscars without your surprises and snubs...

“On the nomination side of things, the biggest surprise may be how ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ garnered so many nominations this year. It was nominated in all six major categories. Its’ the first time that that has happened for a film in 31 years.”

Another big surprise is what the New York Times is calling the triple snub. Kathryn Bigelow, Ben Affleck, and Quentin Tarantino were all bypassed for best director nods.

“No Ben Affleck, I mean this is the movie that everyone is talking about, you see it got a best picture nomination... I mean Quentin is the director’s director in Hollywood. That is stunning to me.”

The big headline this morning... Lincoln stands tall, as the Spielberg drama is nominated 12 times.

“12 nominations. That is pretty amazing. It is Steven Spielberg, it is Daniel Day Lewis, it is Sally Field. It is Oscar, Oscar, Oscar. It is epic the Academy loves some historical references there.”

The Oscars are slated for Sunday, February 24th.
