Back in March — just blocks from where the World Trade Center towers once stood — a Manhattan jury found him guilty of all the charges against him — including conspiring to kill Americans.

Abu Ghaith was not only married to Bin Laden's daughter, but prosecutors say he also served as spokesperson for the terrorist group. For his part, Abu Ghaith told the courtroom he was simply speaking on behalf of Muslims, not Al-Qaeda.

Or as his defense put it, "He was not unlike an outrageous daytime shock-radio host."

But jurors weren't convinced. They were shown videos like these released in the weeks after 9/11, in which Abu Ghaith can be seen praising the 9/11 hijackers and threatening more attacks. (Video via Al Jazeera)

He spent most of the last decade under house arrest in Iran. Last year, the CIA captured Abu Ghaith in Jordan.
