Apple isn't the only company currently facing leaks of its latest hardware and software.

Microsoft’s Chinese offices just gave users the tiniest bit of a hint about the announcement of Windows 9. Yes folks, the leak is coming from inside the company.

According to a report by The Verge, Microsoft China published a post on Chinese social media site Weibo, writing “Microsoft’s latest OS Windows 9 is coming soon, do you think the start menu at the left bottom will make a come back?”

Microsoft China erased the post soon after, so clearly the company wasn’t quite ready to pull back the curtains on the latest iteration of its operation system.

In fact, as SlashGear points out, the operating system hasn’t even been given an official name. As it stands, it’s internally referred to as “Windows Threshold.”

As you can tell by the headline, the outlet isn’t 100 percent convinced the move isn’t a bit of viral marketing, but that’s some hefty speculation.

In theory, then, we now know it’ll be called Windows 9, it’ll probably have a Start Menu and it’s coming soon.

Lucky for us Gizmodo has cataloged all the rumors and leaks in a roundup. Some of the most interesting bits:

The Windows 8 start screen we all know and (some) love will be “condensed down into the Start Menu.” There’s that Start Menu Microsoft China was talking about!

Upgrading to Windows 9 or Windows Threshold could be pretty inexpensive and might even be free.

And last but certainly not least, rumors point to a possible September 30 announcement of the new O.S. Yeah, we’d call that “coming soon.”
