It’s a battle to be king of the viral bathroom video.
The man-your-man-could-smell-like Isaiah Mustafa faced off with Italian Supermodel Fabio in a contest called “Mano a Mano in El Bano” or hand-to-hand in the bathroom. Fox News has the results.
“The two jousted in an array of playful challenges, which included staring, whistling, love letter writing, and working out. In the end, Mustafa’s moves won out... based on consumer feedback such as ‘likes’ and social media comments.”
Hulu’s “The Morning After” couldn’t resist talking about the competition.
Brian: “Since you couldn’t fast forward through this 10 hour commercial we’ve got the highlights for you right here”
Mustafa: “As the actual old spice guy I am able to raise my voice much louder than Fabio’s
Fabio: “I’m more handsome and better in all the ways”
Mustafa: “I’ll vote for the man who can tell me the best way to score a hot date”
Fabio: “First of all grow out some beautiful golden hair”
Mustafa: “Fabio wind blow”
Brian: “So in the end I think it’s pretty obvious who the loser was ...”
Ginger: “Axe Body Spray”
Of course the real winner here is Old Spice which needed a way to keep their ads- well- spicy. Mashable comments on the business of going viral.
“The flurry of activity… came after many advertising pros wondered how the Procter & Gamble brand and ad agency Wieden + Kennedy would follow 2010′s uber-successful ‘The Man Your Man Could Smell Like’ campaign."
The campaign has won multiple industry awards and praise from P&G’s CEO who says-- this is a great example of what can be done through multimedia marketing. The Sydney Morning Herald reports- this is unlikely to be the last viral campaign from Old Spice.
“Brand manager Allison Bolyard said Old Spice will ‘continue to find a variety of entertaining ways to engage consumers ... we love to surprise our consumers.'"
Mustafa says he will continue to be the Old Spice Guy for as long as people like his character.
