First there was Occupy Wall Street. Now there’s Occupy Tebow? It all started when a commenter posted on an ESPN.com article, “Ryan Leaf > Tim Tebow.”

According to Deadspin, that’s when things started getting out of control and comments like “Creed > Tebow” and “Rob Schneider movies > Tebow” started rapidly appearing, at a rate of about 100 per minute.

Then ESPN moderators fought back --  but instead of disabling comments, they started deleting comments almost as fast as they were put up.

But the commenters appear to have won, as the steady flow of “greater than Tebow” quips has continued, unimpeded, through Thursday morning. A writer for National Post thinks the bottom line is all that really matters to ESPN.

“If ESPN cared as much about the tone of its comments as it seemed to about page views, then it would have simply shut the comments section down. But the Tebow provides, it appears.”

The Tebow provides -- and a writer for the Business Insider says that’s what’s got people fed up.

“These rabid commenters' descent into the absurd is based on a simple greivance — ESPN won't shut up about Tim Tebow.”

But as Tebow-mocking reaches another level, a writer for CBS Sports wants to see the end of it.

“Hopefully, like the Tebowing phenomenon, Tebow handles this full of grace and with a laugh. And hopefully, next week, the Tebow mocking doesn’t get any worse.”

Tebow may not have a job after next week -- Broncos head coach John Fox hasn’t committed to Tebow beyond Sunday’s game against Cincinnati.
