Remember Tea Party darling Christine O’Donnell? Here’s a refresher.
Christine O'Donnell: “I’m not a witch. I’m nothing you’ve heard. I’m you.”
But now those trolling Youtube for that famous Senate campaign ad will find another top hit.
Christine O’Donnell-- nearly a year after her failed Senate bid-- walking out on an interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan.
Piers Morgan (CNN): “Why are you being so weird about this?”
Christine O’Donnell (Author): “I'm not being weird about this, Piers”
O’Donnell: “Don't you think as a host if I say this is what I want to talk about, that's what we should address?”
Morgan: “Not really, no. You're a politician.”
O’Donnell: “Okay. I'm being pulled away. We turned down another interview for this.”
Morgan: “Where are you going? You're leaving?”
Now-- fast forward to the morning after--O’Donnell tells Fox 5 in DC-- Morgan was just being plain creepy.
O'Donnell: “He had a decidedly inappropriate line of questions leading up to that...trying to move away from that you know I”m not a 20-year-old on MTV right now...I was not there to talk about sex and he would not stop talking about sex.”
O’Donnell says she was just there to promote her new book-- ironically called “Trouble Maker”. The scene made for some good TV- and some good chat material for TV personalities the next morning.
Robin Meade (HLN): “Here’s the thing-- you don’t get to dictate when you come on someone’s show what you will and won’t talk about, it’s a two-way street right? It’s a give and it’s a take. They’re giving you the air time, you take the questions, right?
Anchor: “Otherwise it would be her show.”
HLN wasn’t the only one on Morgan’s side. Here’s MSNBC’s Willie Geist.
“I know he works for another network but that’s well done by Piers Morgan. Also, no we shouldn’t stick to what you want to talk about. Shouldn’t we just talk about what I want to talk about? No, that’s not the way it works.”
But David Zurawik writes for the Baltimore Sun-- both the snubbed anchor and the memoir-pushing-politico are lovin’ this attention.
“Call it mutual exploitation by two low-level pop culture hustlers. ..they both get some pub. And the world of civil and intelligent discourse that makes us smater and better as a nation takes another hit.”
O’Donnell’s book came out on August 16th. So far it’s the 2,466th most popular book on Amazon.
