The suspect behind the July 22 shooting spree in Norway has been taken back to the island of Utøya -- the scene where 69 people were killed.
Fox News reports -- it’s part of the police investigation.
“Right now, Anders Breivik is reportedly being held on a tight police leash, as it is called essentially, and being asked to recreate his shooting spree in front of detectives. Officers plan to use the tape in court. Witnesses say -- Breivik didn’t show any remorse.”
Breivik has reportedly been calm and cooperative throughout his entire interrogation. A video from Norway’s Verdens Gang shows him retracing his steps.
Breivik has confessed to the rampage -- starting with a bomb that killed eight outside a government building in Oslo and continuing with the shooting spree at a youth camp that killed 69. He says his actions were meant to expel Muslims from Europe and punish politicians for multicultural policies -- and he doesn’t admit to any wrongdoing.
Police were on alert for people seeking revenge against Breivik, but say the crowd of spectators was manageable. The recreation lasted for eight hours. And the Daily Mail reports -- Breivik has a chillingly accurate memory.
“The far-right extremist wore a bullet-proof vest and was tethered on a rope. He was shown pointing to where he had fired shots. … The gunman allegedly remembered in detail every shot he had fired and person he killed.”
The visit back to the island might not be the only way for police to recreate Breivik’s steps. Sky News has a police lawyer saying -- the whole massacre might have been filmed.
“We do have information from his manifesto and from earlier interviews -- and also based on discoveries made at his home -- that he indeed did have a camera. We are looking for this camera but have so far not found anything.”
A memorial ceremony will take place August 21, after which the island will once again be open to the public.
