When it feels like Honey Boo Boo is the only little girl talked about in the media: enter Sam Gordon,

A nine-year-old internet sensation who is getting a lot of attention--not for her pretty dresses--but for her mad skills on the peewee football field. (Video via YouTube / Brent Gordon)

“Last season she racked up 35 touchdowns and ran 1,900 yards. Uh, she’s on my fantasy league.” (Video via KTRK)

The Utah “Gremlins” league quarterback got her start in football by trying to keep up with her big brother. Yahoo Sports reports:

“Sam Gordon just wanted to run with the older kids. The coaches in the local tackle football league figured, hey, why not? Maybe they could turn it into a drill: Who can outrun Max's little sister? They were shocked to find the answer: no one.”

Huffington Post reported that in the changing world of sports, Gordon may have the chance to pursue football later in life:

“Given her young age and limited experience, Sam shows much promise and could stand to benefit from a recent trend of female football players breaking down barriers.”

But the Canadian blog Unsportmanlike wasn’t so sure about the nine-year-old’s future:

“I feel bad for Sam Gordon because the only professional football league for women is the Lingerie Football League.”

The mini-quarterback has a number six jersey for her inspiration, Brigham Young University’s Luke Staley, who she recently got to meet this year after playing a team Staley coached.
