Few things blend fantasy and reality quite like the NFL.
Update your lineups. Stock up your coolers. It’s back.
In a letter to NFL.com subscribers, league commissioner Roger Goodell wrote...
“This may be the first week of the regular season, but it has the feel of a Super Bowl week for the NFL...All of us in the NFL appreciate your patience and understanding through what was a most unusual and challenging off-season.”
Yeah, a four and a half month lockout sounds pretty challenging.
But the NFL may be the child who can do no wrong.
ESPN Radio’s MIke Greenberg says -- any perceived abscense -- just made fans hearts grow fonder.
“But for whatever reason, this could only happen to the NFL. Could only happen to the NFL. They go through a lockout. They go through a work stoppage. A prolonged work stoppage. And the result is their fans are more excited than ever for the start of their season."
The Packers and Saints kicked off the season Thursday, but forget political correctness if you’re in Green Bay...
FoxSports.com reports...
“A TV station in Milwaukee will bump President Barack Obama’s speech on unemployment to another channel tonight to air the pregame festivities before the NFL showdown between the Packers and Saints.”
For pregame festivities. And that’s if the fans stay awake to watch it.....
ESPN’s Rachel Nichols has more from Lambeau Field...
“The people of Green Bay want you to know that they’re not taking this quite as seriously as the SuperBowl. On SuperBowl Sunday, I was here that day. Bars opened at about 8am. Today, they’re only opening at 9am.”
Whether you’re ready or not, football is here. Cheers.
