In world news -- an arrest warrant for Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi -- issued by the International Criminal Court in the Hague. Here’s KGW with more.
“The court's chief prosecutor says he has evidence that links Gaddafi to attacks on civilians. It's the first time the court has taken action while a conflict was underway.”
To Syria -- where opposition figures are holding their first meeting in the capital Damascus. They’re talking about breaking an impasse of the three-month popular uprising.
“The government is hailing it as an example of the reforms promised by President Basar Al Assad. But critics are dismissing it as a publicity stunt because of the absence of groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood and other leading opposition figures, many of whom are behind bars or have been exiled by the Assad regime.”
In politics- Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann makes her 2012 bid official -- in a speech in her hometown of Waterloo, Iowa. KPIX notes -- the move comes seven months ahead of the Iowa caucuses.
“Analysts say Bachmann's bid is a critical test to see how far the Tea Party movement can go. The Congresswoman is running on promises to cut spending, strengthen the the government and repeal President Obama's health care overhaul.”
Debt talks are set to resume in Washington -- with President Obama meeting with top Senate leaders from both sides. Fox Business reports.
“They’ll have to figure out how to get everyone agree to cut the deficit by $2.4 trillion dollars. That’s how much the debt ceiling will need to be raised to keep it running through the presidential elections next year. The president says he wants $3 in spending cuts for every dollar in revenue increases.”

Apple Insider reporters -- Apple is set to begin production in August. Citing unnamed sources Apple Insider reports -- the fifth-generation iPhone should be available to consumers sometime after September.
