In world news -- a cell phone connected to Osama bin Laden offers U.S. authorities more clues to his ‘high-level’ connections in Pakistan. ABC has the latest.

“We'll begin with a shocker in the Osama bin Laden investigation still undergoing. Agents have found the cell phone of bin Laden's trusted courier and on that phone according to The New York Times" they found contact information for a militant group linked to Pakistan's spy agency. It is the latest indication that bin laden may have received high-level help from Pakistan.”

Still in world news -- The EU is targeting Syria with new sanctions in hopes of halting President Bashar al-Assad and his allies.

“On Friday, leaders at a European Council summit in Brussels are expected to condem the crackdown in the srongest terms yet and suggest that the legitimacy Assad’s regime is running out. This comes after the council imposed new sanctions against Syria and its supporters, expanding a list that already includes President Assad, his family, and inner circle. For the first time Syria’s long time ally Iran has been implicated in supporting the crackdown against the pro-democracy supporters.” (Al Jazeera)

In U.S. news -- authorities arrested two men for planning a terrorist attack in Seattle. On MSNBC, Rachael Maddow explains their motivation was ‘inspired’ by other attacks on U.S. military bases.

“The FBI in Seattle announcing the arrest of two men facing multiple charges of terrorism and firearms violations for reportedly planning a machine gun and grenade attack on a U.S. Military recruiting station... According to the criminal complaint in this case, one of the men arrested, quote, told the source that the attack would be in retaliation for alleged crimes committed by United States soldiers in Afghanistan... and, quote, referred to the 2009 Hood massacre saying, ‘If one person could kill so many people, three attackers could kill more.’”

Still in the U.S. -- lawmakers in New York enter another closed door debate -- deciding the fate of the gay marriage in the Empire State. CNN reports on the close vote.

“The president's visit to New York state sits on the verge of becoming the sixth and biggest state to legalize same-sex marriage. Negotiations continued in Albany in as protesters circled the capitol. A vote could come this morning, tallies show that bill needs just one more vote to pass.”

In tech news -- the hacker collective LulzSec claims another victory -- this time at the expense of the Arizona Department of Public Safety. Fox News reports the latest in the group’s string of hacks to expose government documents.

“Arizona state police shows opposition to the tough immigration law. None of the information taken was classified but included some intelligence bulletins. The group says it's behind the hack. They've also claimed responsibility for hacking the C.I.A. and senate web sites. The U.S. Senate that is to say.”
