This is Newsy Now and here are the headlines you need to know. In U.S. news-- the man who caused a terror scare outside the Pentagon last week has been connected to a number of other high profile crimes.
Fox News has the details.
ANCHOR: “A marine reservist arrested in a Pentagon scare now now charged in a string of DC area shootings. Yonathan Melaku of Virginia charged today in 5 shootings of military buildings that happened last Fall. Targets included the National Museum of the Marine Corps and a marine recruiting station.”
In business news-- Google higher ups Larry Page and Eric Schmidt may be subpoenaed in an investigation of how the company does its business. Here’s Bloomberg.
SARA FORDEN: “Well, you know, Google is the darling of the Internet economy and for years the government has consciously kind of kept its hands off in order to allow this company to grow. And now here we have it. It has 66% of the search market on the Internet and there are increasing calls to really look at how it’s handling its business, whether it really is an open, fair search engine.”
In world news--HLN reports-- Japan has experienced another earthquake.
ROBIN MEADE: “An earthquake hit northern Japan, shaking the people who lived through the tragic earthquake and tsunami back in March. Now, thankfully, this time nobody was hurt. A tsunami warning was issued at first and thousands of people were told to evacuate. the warning was lifted shortly after. Today’s quake had a magnitude of 6.7.”
Also in your world headlines-- euronews reports Dutch politician Geert Wilders has been acquitted of charges that he incited racial hatred toward Muslims.
ANCHOR: “Clearing Wilders of the charges, the court said that, while offensive to Muslims, his views constituted part of a legitimate public debate. (Flash) The far-right politician had been on trial since last October. The charges rose from Fitna – the film he made that was highly critical of Islam – and comments he posted on the Internet.”
And finally-- a never before seen tribe of humans has been found in the Brazilian Amazon. Al Jazeera has more.
ANCHOR: “Researchers from the government agency that track indigenous people in Brazil confirm it. They’re the ones who took the photos during a recent flyover of the Vale do Javari region of the Amazon, one of the most isolated in all of Brazil, not far from the border with Peru. It’s an area thought to have the highest number of uncontacted tribes anywhere in the world. In recent years Brazil has identified over a dozen uncontacted indigenous groups thought to number over 2,000 people.”
