In U.S. news -- a search continues in Mexico for seven American tourists after their fishing boat capsized off Mexico’s north-western coast. MSNBC has the latest.
"The Mexican Navy now says that seven Americans are missing after a charter fishing boat capsized off Mexico's Baja Peninsula yesterday. As crews search for survivors, officials confirm one American is dead and 35 passengers have already been rescued. Initial reports from Mexico say the boat overturned in the Sea of Cortez after it was hit by two giant waves."
Still in the U.S. -- the discovery of a woman’s body in Indiana could be the body of missing Indiana college student Lauren Spierer. Fox News has the latest details.
“An autopsy is expected today, could shed some light on the case of missing Indiana student Laura Spierer. It will be conducted on a female body found in a creek north of Indianapolis. Police have been searching for her since June 2nd when she was last seen leaving a sports bar in the city after a night out with friends.”
In world news -- prosecutors are planning to drop all charges of sexual assault against Dominque Strauss-Kahn. However, CNBC reports he’s walking out of the courtroom and into more trouble.
ANCHOR: “The french socialist party says it's highly unlikely now that Dominique Strauss-Kahn could face election next year as he faces another sexual assault. So what's going on?”
REPORTER: “Tristane Banon is a french writer and she's accusing Dominique Strauss-Kahn of rape almost nine years ago. But after the weekend, after he's been released in the united states, she has decided to go to court and she will file this official complaint later today...That will be, of course, a very, very prop attic case especially for this weekend.”
Still in world news -- a sweeping victory for Yingluck Shinawatra as she becomes the first female Prime Minister of Thailand. Euronews reports her win will allow the government to escape military and socialist control.
“The powerful Thai military has apparently given its nod of consent to the country's surprise election result. The reported endorsement will be a relief to supporters of Yingluck Shinawatra... She says she now plans to form a five-party coalition government. ‘Today the Puea Thai party and the other four parties have demonstrated their intention for a common approach, to form an administration to solve the problems of the people,’... Observers says an absolute majority in Parliment makes it hard for rivals to stop Yingluck Shinawatra becoming the countries first woman Prime Minister.”
Finally in tech news -- the U.S. Secret Service will investigate the hacking of Fox News’ Twitter account. CNN reports on Monday the hackers sent six tweets with one disturbing message.
“And the secret service has now investigating that apparent foxnews.com's twitter feed for political news. Someone used the site yesterday to falsely announce that President Obama had been killed. Fox is also asking twitter for a detailed investigation.”
