House Republicans trying to save the Speaker’s bill---are taking a second crack at it. Republicans rewrite Speaker John Boehner’s Bill----again. The bill now includes a budget amendment. Fox News talked to one political expert.
“We’re up, we’re down, we’re over, we’re out. Nobody really knows how this is going to end out. My suggestion is that whatever the public impressions are today, they really don’t matter. What’s going to matter is what happens Tuesday and thereafter. Will there be a default or not?”
Speaking of money---the U.S. economy---grows just 1.3 percent in the 2nd quarter. It’s the weakest pace the economy’s grown since the recession. High gas prices and low incomes are just a few of the things to blame. MSNBC breaks it all down.
“The economy grew at a rate of 1.3% during the last quarter and revising the first quarter down, the investors didn’t want to hear, ‘Hey watch the debt crisis head down to this bad stage.’”
In World News now-- Oslo police interrogate alleged killer Anders Breivik. Police say the man cooperated with police. Officials took Breivik from prison to Oslo’s police station. Here’s CNN.
“He’ll also be evaluated by psychologists. Breivik has been in solitary confinement since Monday. Police say they’ve uncovered a lot of new leads in the last few days and make sure there is no further threat.”
In tech news---Nintendo is cutting its 3DS by---$80. It came out with the system just six months ago. The gaming company also cut its profit forecast by 80%. Here’s CNBC.
“Nintendo posted a $38 million lot loss for the third quarter. The firm cut its profits for the year to about $260 million, less than a fifth of its previous outlook. The weaker than expected report was due to waning demand for a 3d version of its game console.”
In sports news---Tiger will be back on the links next week. He announced he’ll play in the Bridgestone Invitational. The former number one has won the event seven times. Here’s GMA.
“Woods had been sidelined for nearly three months after injuring his knee and achilles. Last week, he sent a tweet saying I’m quote, “feeling fit.”
