A new vote is set by the GOP-controlled house. This -- the morning after Republicans couldn’t muster enough support to get a vote to the floor. Speaker John Boehner has been quoted as telling his colleagues to quote -- get your ass in line.
Here’s PBS with the latest.
“We’re gonna pass a very responsible answer to this crisis. And our solution was put together by the bi-partisan leadership of the Congress, and there’s no reason to say no. It’s about time for someone in this town to say yes.”
The next vote is scheduled just hours from now. Elsewhere -- a Fort Hood soldier has been detained for an alleged plot to attack his base. The solder -- a muslim army private -- had gone AWOL from his duties, setting off suspicion. CNN has more.
“When they searched his hotel room they found weapons, ammunition, gun powder, 18 pounds of sugar, a pressure cooker, ammunition, a magazine. Materials officials say could be construed as bomb-making material.”
To world news -- where the assassination of Libya’s top rebel commander has created a fear of fracturing -- among rebel troops. This -- as rebels had just gained historic ground against troops loyal to Muammar Gaddafi. Here’s euronews.
“Gen Abdel Nasser Younis defected from the Gaddafi regime in February. While many welcomed the move, Younis was not trusted by all of his new comrades. He was gunned down after being summoned back from the battlefield for questioning.”
The search for a missing New Hampshire girl -- has led authorities to Canada. 11-year-old Celina Cass went missing earlier this week. ABC notes -- authorities fear -- a potential stranger abduction.
“Celina’s parents say they last saw her in her own home around 9 oclock Monday night at the familly computer. The next morning when they went to wake her up, she was gone. By that afternoon, the search was underway.”
Finally -- sports news. Chad Ochocinco -- traded to the New England Patriots. Not the only big trade of the day in Beantown. ESPN’s analyst John Clayton break it down.
“What an amazing day for the Patriots. they got Albert Haynesworth for a fifth round draft pick. We don’t what draft pick they gave up for Chad Ochocinco. He’s going to fit into an offense with Tom Brady.”
Clayton’s question? Is number 85 taken in New England. If so -- does Ochocinco have to change his name?
