Are the debt-ceiling talks becoming the debt-ceiling blockade? First Speaker Boehner’s plan overstated its cuts. Now -- Senator Harry Reid’s bill apparently comes up short.  The Congressional Budget Office says Reid’s plan -- doesn’t make enough cuts. Here’s Fox News.

“Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s plan would actually cut half a trillion less from the deficit than he says it would. House speaker John Boehner’s plan falls about $350 billion short.”

In World News -- Pakistan and India have agreed to work closer on the disputed Kashmir region. The meeting comes just two weeks after explosion’s ripped through India’s Mumbai. Here’s the BBC.

“The first thing Indian Foreign Minister said today when he met the media after their talks is he felt they were on the right track. There were no major breakthroughs but a lot of positive goodwill, if you like. They hope to carry the process on.”

In tech news --- Windows has released the new Mango phone in Japan. It’s the first smart phone running on Window’s Mango operating system. The phone is expected to hit Japanese stores in September. KABC has more on the device.

“They are constantly changing with updates about people, or music, or news or location information, and that kind of thing, and they are kind of dancing on the screen as you look at phone.”

In sports news -- IOC President Jacques Rogge is officially inviting people to come to London. The 2012 summer games -- now just one year away. The facilities being built there are reportedly on time for completion. Here’s MSNBC.

“Surrounded by some of the world’s most iconic landmarks -- from Big Ben to Buckingham Palace, London’s historic skyline is getting an Olympic makeover, preparing once again to serve on the international stage.”

Finally -- also in sport -- The Pittsburgh Pirates are still upset after a blown call cost them a crucial game. The 19 inning game against the Atlanta Braves went almost seven hours. Umpire Jerry Meals missed the game-decider --  a clear tag at the plate. See for yourself.

“Pirates’ catcher Michael McHenry tags Julio Lugo, but he’s called safe by the umpire. And the ball game’s over. Braves win in stunning fashion, 19 innings, six hours, 4-3 the final score. Clint Hurdle losing his mind afterwards.”
