This is Newsy Now, and here are your latest headlines.  Thousands of Federal Aviation Administration employees have been told --- not to show up for work. It’s a sign that the nation’s debt ceiling crisis is starting to take effect. MSNBC has more.

“Of course it’s all about money. Nearly 4,000 federal workers are on furlough, and projects like new runway lights and new safety systems are on hold. Air traffic controllers and inspectors will stay on the job.”

In World News -- a Moroccan military plane crashes into a mountain, killing 78 people. Crews were trying to land the plane at the time. Here’s KMSB.

“The c-130 transport was preparing to land at a military base... 60 of the victims were members of the military... 12 were civilians... The rest were crew members.”

It may be the wildest off-the-field day in NFL history. With the lockout over -- teams can sign free agents. Among the players on the trading block - QB’s like Kevin Kolb, Kyle Orton, and Donovan McNabb. ESPN’s Adam Schefter has more on the end of the NFL’s crisis.

Adam: “The NFL wanted to get these teams into camp two full weeks before their first preseason game. So when these teams are playing their first preseason game two weeks from now, that Thursday night, those teams are in camp Wednesday. Friday night, those teams are in camp Thursday.”

Microsoft
appears to be eating its words. It has apologized for its Amy Winehouse tweet. The company had told fans to purchase one of her albums after she died. By doing so, you’d be paying tribute. Here’s KNBC.

“Their words, remember Amy Winehouse. They slammed Microsoft with hundreds of furious replies. Microsoft issued a statement apologizing for the tweet."

Less fries---and more fruit. That’s what McDonalds is offering in their new Happy Meals. The company is adding apples to every one of its meals in the United States. The fry portion---will now be cut in half. Here’s GMA.

Reporter: “What’s the best part of the Happy Meal?”
Kid: “The toy.”
Reporter: “Which hasn’t changed much. But now as kids rip into the box with that sense of expectation, they’ll find something different next to their toy. It’s no longer a choice of fries
and apples. Now you get both and only about half as many fries.”
