This is Newsy Now and here are the headlines you need to know.

In the U.S.-- The pretrial hearing for U.S. Army Pfc. Bradley Manning is set to continue today—this time, it’s his attorneys’ turn to make their case. Manning is accused of leaking classified files and diplomatic cables to whistle blower site Wikileaks.

Here’s Fox News.

“Bradley Manning’s attorney about to launch its defense against the U.S. military. It wants Manning court-martialed and sent to prison for orchestrating the biggest national security leak in U.S. history. Their argument that Manning was emotionally troubled during his time in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the military should have provided better computer security.”

In your world headlines-- an inside source tells Reuters that assumed-leader Kim Jong-Un may be forced to share power. Here’s MSNBC.

“Reuters is reporting that North Korea will adopt an unusual power-sharing arrangement in the wake of Kim Jong-Il's death. His son, Kim Jong-Un, will share power with his uncle in conjunction with the North Korean military.”

In China-- protesting residents of a small fishing village have won what some have called a ‘rare compromise’ from the government. CNN has more.

“Residents held talks with government officials earlier to try to diffuse the situation there, following violent protests over land rights and a village under siege. Protesters had threatened to march on local offices today, but in the past few hours, Chinese officials reportedly agreed to release three protest leaders, so that march was canceled.”

The Federal Aviation Administration is set to announce new rules meant to prevent sleep-deprived airline pilots from flying. Fox News has the details.

“It is expected to give them a better chance of getting uninterrupted rest between flights, this after Continental Connection flight crashed near Buffalo three years ago, what an awful scene that was ... Investigators heard the pilots yawning on the black box recordings...”
