President Obama---happy but not satisfied about the latest jobs report. The unemployment rate dropped slightly---from 9.2 to 9.1 percent. Still-- some aren’t sold the president’s doing enough. Here’s Fox News.

“The White House can say the president’s actually going to do something about it, and the way he can do something is to lead this economy in the fall. There’s going to be another continuing resolution bill in the fall, you’re going to see a huge fight over that.”

The Senate passes the House’s FAA bill. More than 75,000 people---can go back to work. Workers lost their paychecks on July 23rd when the FAA shut down. But the solution -- is only temporary. The bill only extends funding through September 16. Here’s Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis .

“I think that the American public needs to make very clear while their members are home at recess right now and talk to them about what the priority should be.“

In world news-- Syrians protest across the country on the first Friday of Ramadan. In the meantime---President Bashar al-Assad’s troops shelled the rebel stronghold Hama. With all the chaos---how long can the protesters hold up? Here’s CNN.

“They continue to face what they say is indiscriminate firing on them. We have seen numerous reports of demonstrations happening in different parts of the country today. Again, calling for the downfall of the regime but also to show their solidarity for the mil crackdown happening in Hama.”

In Norway-- a polar bear attacks a group of campers---killing a 17 year-old boy and injuring four others. The Arctic glacier is home to about 2,400 people---but about 3,000 bears. Here’s KTVU.

“A helicopter had to be flown in. The men were part of a tour group of about 80 people. One person in the group shot and killed the bear after the attack. There have been warnings about these bear attacks after several were spotted in the area.”

In tech news--- Apple becomes the world’s new smartphone leader. Apple made $20.3 million from the iPhone in the second quarter alone. The company now has 19.1 percent of the global market share. Here’s CNBC.

“Apple snatches the crown away from Nokia which had been the top dog for several years. Cell phone sales are up 65 % in the past year. A lot investors happy with Apple today amid the market.”
