A front page that’s all about the Queen of Rage.

That’s presidential candidate Michele Bachmann’s new nickname-- according to Newsweek.

The magazine ran that raging headline-- alongside a picture that’s been described as unflattering, unfair..or as conservative blogger Michelle Malkin puts it...

“...bottom-of-the-barrel moonbat photo cliches about conservative female public figures ...”

And criticism from conservatives doesn’t stop there...

Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey says...

“Conservative candidates have to learn that Newsweek ... and other mainstream publications won’t...be objective.  They plan on making news, not reporting it.”

But it’s not just outspoken conservatives taking issue with the “crazy-eyes” cover. Slate’s Jessica Grose writes..

“As much as it pains me to admit it Bachmann is a legitimate candidate and major magazines should treat her like one.”

And Huffington Post’s Alex Wagner weighed in on MSNBC.

Alex Wagner (Huffington Post): “Look there’s a lot about Michele Bachmann that I think is probably worthy of further examination and criticism-- this to me seemed a little unfair...She looks sort of blank and confused and I did think it was unfair.”

The Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart argues-- offensive or not-- the point of the cover was to be noticed.

Jonathan Capehart (Washington Post): “Tina Brown, she’s the editor of Newsweek and trying to pull that magazine off the mat...You know, we’re talking about it. People have seen that cover all day long.”

So far Bachmann seems unfazed by the cover controversy. Red State’s Erick Erickson tells CNN-- ultimately, she benefits from the attention.

Erick Erickson (Redstate.com): “I think at some point it’s kind of been an exhausted topic but Michele Bachmann has benefited from it. The caveat for a lot of conservatives is that they shouldn’t rally around someone just because the media may be perceived to be attacking that person. Michele Bachmann can stand on her own record.”

As for Tina Brown-- she’s defending the photo choice. She tweeted..

“Michele Bachmann’s intensity is galvanizing voters in Iowa right now and Newsweek’s cover captures that.”
