Is your social media just not social enough? Facebook may have a solution. CNET explains.

“The other big change is Open Graph. This will let any app on Facebook seamlessly share everything you do. Like every time you go for a run. Every time you listen to a song or watch a show or watch a movie or read a news story.”

And according to writers at TechCrunch Facebook’s new feature, which already has apps from Spotify, Hulu, Netflix and Nike+, amongst others, in its corral, may make your trusty old “Like” button a thing of the past.

“...they were the first to do a button in the correct way. One click. Done. … But while all the competitors were busy making that button, Facebook was busy making the button obsolete. Today’s Open Graph changes represent a world where the button isn’t needed.”

So how is all of this uber-sharing going to fit in to the new Facebook landscape? Writers at The Register say it won’t be as tight a fit as you might think.

Not all of this activity will appear on a user’s news feed, however – the volume of data (of) something like this would spam out news people actually want to post – but will instead be displayed on a ticker to express ‘lightweight activities’...”

And writers at ZDNet think the move, which opens the door to a whole host of new sharing from previously private users, may be one of Facebook’s most clever to date.

“Facebook has ... managed to recruit the silent majority, the huge group of users that are too shy or private to share their activities.”

And writers at Forbes think that’s a great thing for marketers.

“The more people do on Facebook, the more data they generate about their interests, needs, wants and everything else marketers are interested in knowing. Through something Facebook calls Graph Targeting, marketers can target just whom they want to reach...”

But not everybody is on board for Facebook’s frictionless friendships. A writer at Slate thinks the key to good sharing, is thoughtful sharing.

“If Facebook users aren't sharing stuff because they worry it will bore their friends, good! Thank you, people of Facebook, for your restraint in choosing not to bore me.”

Not interested in sharing everything you do all day, every day? Don’t panic. Each app requires you to opt in to share your activities and offers inline privacy controls.
