The media is still talking about the Presidential 747 flyover in New York on Monday. The aircraft was one of two 747s used to carry President Obama.

The flight was a photo shoot, but instead the low flying plane caused panic in the city.

The Daily Show criticizes the photo op, which cost nearly US$330,000.

“By the way, you know it’s funny, it just occurred to me, you know another way you could have gotten that picture? Uh, Photoshop. Remember? We did it! Remember? Oh but that’s right, Photoshop can look so fake. When the look of terror on so many people’s faces today – you can’t fake that.”  (The Daily Show)

WCBS TV out of New York reports that officials predicted the panic and did nothing.

“Federal officials knew that sending two fighter jets and Air Force 1 to buzz ground zero and the Statue of Liberty might set off nightmares, fears of a 9/11 replay. But they still ordered the photo op kept secret from the public.” (WCBS)

CNN shows the perspective of a Former Homeland Security Advisor.
She blames White House Military Office director Louis Caldera who took responsibility for the mission.

“And frankly as I would say as a former prosecutor I’d call this felony stupidity. This is probably not the right job for Mr. Caldera to be in if he didn’t understand the likely reaction of New Yorkers, of the mayor and while the White House has said that they are furious, I think they’ve got to look at whether or not this is the right job for Mr. Caldera.” (CNN)

Canada Free Press says the media isn’t fully investigating the story.

“Apparently, the majority of the media continue to be too entranced by their infatuation with their American idol of a president to see the absurdity of this story and contradictions concerning this event. As usual, no one in the media is asking pertinent questions, and they sure aren’t demanding answers.” (Canada Free Press)
