Miss California Carrie Prejean is sparking controversy after her answer to a gay marriage question in the Miss USA pageant.

Hello, I’m Charlotte Bellis, and you’re watching Newsy.com.

“We live in a land where you can live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage and you know what?  In my country, and in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman.  No offense to anyone out there, but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I believe it should be between a man and a woman.” -Carrie Prejean

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton—who is gay—asked Prejean the question, and was so upset by the contestant’s answer, he made this video for his own website immediately after the show:

“She gave the worst answer in pageant history.  She got booed…She’s a dumb bitch.”
-Perez Hilton

The two have been arguing through various media outlets, but not directly with one another.

On Larry King Live, Hilton explains why Prejean’s answer was offensive:

“In an interview this morning, she said that the audience and the judges expected her to be politically correct.  You wanna know what? YES.  I do expect Miss USA to be politically correct.  Do we want a Miss USA to be politically insensitive?  Politically offensive? No!” -Perez Hilton

Prejan defended herself on entertainment host Billy Bush’s radio show and FOX News:

“While I have you here, how do you feel about civil unions or something else that isn’t the word ‘marriage?’
“You know what Billy? I don’t feel like that’s an appropriate question to ask me right now, because it’s not about that Billy. It’s about me competing for Miss USA.  I don’t have all the answers"

To FOX News she also said: "I have no regrets about answering [judge Perez Hilton] honestly…He asked me for my opinion and I gave it to him. I have nothing against gay people and I didn't mean to offend anyone in my answer."

FOX News also reports Hilton has offered to have coffee with the Californian pageant queen, but Prejan has not responded to the request.

Who do you agree with on this issue?  Should Prejean have put her honest answer aside to remain politically correct?
