“We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage… And you know what… in my country and in my family I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman, no offence to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised and that how I think it should be, between a man and a woman.”

Perspectives on why Miss California Carrie Prejean has been stripped of her crown range from denouncing gay marriage to leaked nude photos …

We are looking at coverage across the board - sources trying to get to the heart of the issue - why was she fired?

First, PerezHilton.com reports that the “official” reason for her firing was based solely on her job performance…

“The firing is said to have no connection to her political or morals beliefs, but instead is a result of her not living up to her contract and failing to show up at several pageant events.”

The Hollywood Gossip examines e-mail between the pageant officials and Prejean and comes to the conclusion she wasn’t easy to work with…

“Carrie makes it clear that she expects to be notified of ALL offers that come her way. But does she do it in a calm, reasonable, mature manner? Not even close…”

Entertainment Weekly gives Prejean’s perspective, reporting that the deposed beauty queen says the firing is politically motivated…

“What's behind this, I think, is a political debate. They don't agree with the stance that I took [on California's Proposition 8].... From day one they wanted me out, and they got what they wanted.”

Reporter Mike Von Fremd for ABC’s Good Morning America doesn’t buy into all the hype, saying it’s all just a publicity stunt for the pageant…

“So now California has a new queen… Tami Farrell, with no opinion on gay marriage and anxious to attend all functions… Carrie Prejean now has countless job offers, and the Donald keeps getting more publicity for what was once a low-rated beauty pageant. A little something for everyone…”

And finally entertainment gossip website TMZ highlights Prejean’s belief that she was fired for refusing to do pornography…

“We just got off the phone with deposed Miss California USA Carrie Prejean, and she says the pageant was trying to whore her out to Playboy…”

So what do you think, was the firing fair, or politically motivated… and what are your opinions of the former Miss California?
