Michael Sam's Uncertain (But Hopeful) NFL Future
Although Sam didn't make the St. Louis Rams 53-man roster, his prospects of playing are still very much alive.By Christian Bryant | August 30, 2014
The St. Louis Rams cut former Mizzou linebacker and seventh round draft pick Michael Sam from its 53-man roster Saturday, deferring Sam's chances of being the first openly gay player to make an NFL team.
Although Sam recorded three sacks and 11 tackles in four preseason games, the consensus from sports writers and analysts is that he was outplayed by another NFL hopeful.
ESPN: "It's clear to them that Ethan Westbrooks has been the better player."
