Jeopardy question:  The man who sprung out of his hotel room, chased a burglar down the hallway and injured himself in the process?
Pressure’s on...it’s a Daily Double...
If you answered -- who is Alex Trebek.  You’re a winner.
The media’s having fun with the tale of the game-show host turned crime-fighter.

“[JEOPARDY MUSIC].”
“I love that music. For more than 25 years Alex Trebek has had all the answers on Jeopardy.”

“Earlier in the middle of the night, in a San Francisco hotel room, the game show host found himself in a bit of...Jeopardy.”

“I’ll take bizarre burglaries for $400, Alex.”

Jokes aside-- KTVU explains what actually happened.

“...two hotel guests were sleeping when a woman entered their room and stole a number of items...One of the guests awoke and saw the woman leaving the room, then jumped out of bed and chased her down the hallway...During the chase, the victim fell and injured his leg.”l

San Francisco police eventually arrested 56-year old Lucinda Moyers for the break in.

Alex Trebek was left with an injured leg-- and the media-- was left with a story just waiting to be given the Jeopardy-joke treatment. Sarah Anne Hughes writes for The Washington Post...

“I could make about a million ‘Jeopardy’ jokes right now, but many other people have graciously done that for me.”

In fact-- a reporter for The New York Times claims he  took a minute to come up with as many Jeapordy-inspired LOL’s as he could. Here’s our favorite--

“Police said that a second suspect, the noted Scottish actor Sean Connery, remained at large.”

Inspired by a series of SNL skits...

In last place, with negative $69, oh brother, Sean Connery.”
[APPLAUSE FOR CONNERY]

As for Trebek’s ailing leg?
CBS reports-- he’s scheduled for surgery before the end of the week.
