Coronado, California is reeling after a shocking set of events inside a prestigious home.
Two deaths have now occurred at a historic mansion belonging to Medicis Pharmaceutical CEO, Jonah Shacknai .
KNXV-TV has more.
“Police say Shacknai’s 6-year-old son was taken to the hospital not breathing and with no pulse after falling down these stairs on Monday. … At the time of the accident the boy was being looked after by this woman, Rebecca Zahau, his girlfriend who also lived in the valley. Two days after Max’s fall Zahau was found dead hanging from a balcony outside of the mansion naked and with her hands and feet tied."
Shacknai's son died on Sunday.
Shacknai has made no comments related to the death of his girlfriend, and police have not said whether her death was suicide or murder. But Radar Online has details that suggest -- suicide looks a little unlikely.
“The San Diego Medical's Examiner's Office has not released any information about how [Zahau] might have hung herself while her writs and ankles were bound or about what materials were used to bind them."
The International Business Times reports -- events at the house between Max’s fall and Zahau’s death have drawn suspicion.
“Reports have emerged of a ‘loud party’ at the mansion on Tuesday night, when Max would have been in critical condition at the hospital -- apparently with both his parents at his bedside around the clock."
In its report, KSWB notes -- Jonah Shacknai is currently under investigation over some strange business practices.
“SEC filings show just last month Shacknai transferred $5 million in his company’s stock into a trust fund for his children, and last week he bought and sold his company’s stock and in one day made $1.5 million. He’s also in court. Federal documents show he’s suing insurance providers over a $43 mill policy he took out in 2003 and he’s being sued by stockholders for lying about the value of his company."
There are currently no suspects in the deaths, and police say that everyone they’ve interviewed is being considered a witness.
