If you’re bored of our big blue marble, you might have the chance to leave it fairly soon. A spot on Mars just opened up. Oh yea, and it’s free.

WGXA:
“Mars One, a non-profit organization in the Netherlands hopes to establish a human settlement on Mars by 2023 and they’re looking for astronauts.”

According to the organization, anyone can apply; but they must first meet a few, pretty basic, requirements. Some of which are…

Applicants must be over the age of 18 and in good physical and mental health. They must be resilient, adaptable, curious, have the ability to trust, be creative and resourceful.

There is no specific country or language applicants must know– however, the official language of the program will be English. So how exactly will this all work? NBC explains.

Forty selections will be made in the first half of this year and training will begin soon after. During that training the astronauts will live in a replica of the Mars settlement.

Construction of the real settlement will begin between 2016 and 2021 when Mars One plans to launch a series of robotic cargo missions.

If all goes according to plan— the first four pioneers will land on the red planet in 2023. More colonist will arrive every two years after that. But this opportunity isn’t merely just a vacation— as the Mars One founder tells the Huffington Post, if you go you’re not coming back.

“They’re going to stay there in our plan for the rest of their lives. They’re going to really settle on a new planet and start a new life there.”

So how in the world, er Earth, will a not-for-profit organization pay for such a huge endeavor? Well, their idea will let us all in on the action, with a reality TV show.

The Verge reports:
“The show is expected to cover everything from the selection process to preparations to, eventually, landing and living on Mars.”

According to Mars One, the startup has already received more than 1,000 inquiries from potential applicants around the world. So, if you’re interested— you better get that application in ASAP!
