Talk about a compete 180. After winning at least ten games for the last nine seasons, the Indianapolis Colts have fallen to 0-7 after a wild 62-7 loss to the Saints on Sunday night.
Yahoo Sports’ Robert Dougherty says coincidentally-- it may have been the Saints win over the Colts in the 2010 Super Bowl that kicked off the downward spiral.

“Before their first loss to the Saints, the Colts were ready to enter NFL immortality. About 20 months later, another loss to the Saints has put the Colts into NFL infamy- and the deeper infamy of a 0-16 season now doesn’t look that far-fetched.”

While the Colts did lose 11 time pro bowler and 4 time MVP Peyton Manning for the whole season, 18 to 88 blogger Nate Dunlevy says it goes beyond that.

“The loss Sunday night wasn't aberrant. It was the obvious culmination of everything that is wrong with the Colts coaching staff...what I saw Sunday night was not about players as much as it was a coaching staff determined to do nothing to help them.”

In the absence of Manning, head coach Jim Caldwell turned to veteran Kerry Collins. When he didn’t work out Caldwell went to 26-year-old Curtis Painter. Neither have won a game. ESPN’s Paul Kuharsky says maybe it’s time for a new coach and not a new QB.

“…A loss like the one at the Superdome showed an inability to prepare for or adjust to a superior opponent. It puts a significant dent in whatever stability Caldwell still has.”

Maybe all the Colts need is a little Luck. The Colts are now in prime position to grab the number one pick in the draft- headlined by one of the highest touted QB prospects ever - Stanford’s Andrew Luck. Former Colts coach Tony Dungy says if the Colts have the pick- they ought to take him- and maybe trade him.

"I would see [Peyton] competing and playing as long as he wanted. And if it gets to the point to where, hey, he comes back and it looks like he's gonna play three or four more years, and you say, 'We've got Andrew Luck, we've got an asset, we trade him"

Luck was the Heisman runner up in 2010, and is the early favorite for the 2011 Heisman. NFL Network’s Tom Waddle says he wouldn’t consider trading Luck - he’d consider trading Manning.

“The ideal scenario would be to draft Andrew Luck, and let him sit behind Peyton a couple of years a la Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers, but if that’s not the appropriate scenario and Peyton Manning’s not happy about it, or for whatever reason they feel its necessary to trade Peyton, you have to do it.”
