A manhunt is underway in Los Angeles ... for a police officer who is after police officers. Former officer Christopher Dorner is suspected of shooting several officers, at least one of whom has died, early Thursday morning in Riverside County, east of LA.

Dorner has been the subject of a manhunt since Sunday night, when he was thought to have killed a woman and her fiance. He was fired from his department in 2009 after making false statements about another officer.

The woman who Dorner allegedly killed is the daughter of a retired LAPD captain who reportedly represented Dorner during his firing. He apparently mentioned her father in Facebook postings, and wrote an online manifesto threatening to attack police officers and their families. CNN has details on his frightening manifesto, which its reporter calls “bone chilling.”

(Reporter reading his manifesto): “I will utilize every bit of small arms training, demolition, ordinance and survival training.”
Reporter: “He specifically names and warns a lot of LAPD officers.”

But The Los Angeles Times reports the manhunt has turned even more tragic -- police are parolling the area with guns, and came across vehicles similar to the pickup truck Dorner is thought to be driving. They fired at the occupants.

It seems at least two innocent people were struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital.

33-year-old Dorner is believed to have military training as well. He is 6 ft. tall and weighs 270 lbs. Fox News has the latest on the search from a local sargeant.

SGT RUDY LOPEZ, LAPD: “It’s extremely tense.”
LOPEZ: “We are looking at all avenues to identify where he may be, where he might be going. We approach it with caution because of the propensity he’s already shown.”
