At least 50 people were injured after a ferry crashed into a dock in lower Manhattan Wednesday morning. HLN has the details.

“Here’s what we know: 320 passengers on board, 57 hurt, one critical. That’s what we know at this point, we saw video of some being taken away on stretchers. Again, this being dubbed a ‘hard landing.’”

CNN reports there are at least a dozen emergency vehicles surrounding the accident, which is close to Wall Street.

“This particular ferry, called the ‘Seastreak,’ came in from Highlands, New Jersey. It was the 8 a.m. ferry out of Highlands, New Jersey expected to land here at Pier 11 at 8:45. Clearly something went terribly wrong.”

The New York Times reports passengers aboard the ferry said it felt like a normal everyday commute until they reached their destination and felt …

“ … a sudden jolt, powerful enough to send people hurtling through the air.”

New York officials say the ferry struck a loading barge, which extends from the pier and used for passengers to get on and off the vessel. It isn’t clear why the ferry unexpectedly hit the barge.
