You may not have as much time to take in your turkey dinner before rushing out for Black Friday shopping this year. Here’s CNBC.
“Macy's has decided to get a jump on black Friday. The department store operator will be expanding its hours opening midnight following Thanksgiving. So a big parade in the morning and then open for business just hours later.”
According to USA Today, Macy’s expanded hours come in response to consumer requests.
“Last year, Macy's opened eight stores at midnight and shoppers seemed to like that better than waiting until 4 a.m.”
Macy’s won’t be the only retailer with a head start for this year’s Black Friday sale. Last week, Target also announced it would open its doors at midnight after Thanksgiving for the first time ever. The Washington Post says retailers expanding their Black Friday hours - is part of a trend.
“In recent years, retailers have expanded their Black Friday hours and rolled out sales for the day weeks in advance. That’s in contrast to a few years ago when stores kept their discounts and hours secret until a few days before the Thanksgiving weekend.”
But a writer for Forbes says the real Black Friday craziness this year won’t be limited to the stores.
“I don’t believe the real battle for consumers will even be waged in stores this year, but online. Mobile shopping, price comparisons and internet only deals will rival doorbusters in terms of value offered and complexity.”
