It’s being called Lady Gaga’s most shocking photoshoot yet. St. Louis’ KDNL explains why the queen of pop controversy has got everybody talking.

“We’ve seen Lady Gaga draped in plush frogs, dressed in- as a dude and covered in meat, but rarely do we see her like this. The pop superstar dared to let her face stay bare on the October cover of Harper’s Bazaar- a relatively bold move for any celeb, let alone one who only steps out dressed to kill and wearing enough make-up to mask an entire Cirque du Soleil troupe.”

Yep- Gaga goes barefaced for Bazaar. No heavy make-up, and no facial prosthetics like in her last cover for the mag.

The star’s latest transformation has one Entertainment Weekly blogger a little confused.

“WHAT? What is going on? Who is this person? Is she Swedish? … Is this going to presage an acoustic album? Will all her outfits be fashioned out of natural fibers on manual looms?”

But is Gaga’s make-under just Hollywood magic? The anchors at Early Today try to figure out if Gaga was really born this way.

ANCHOR 1: “So wait- so she really has long hair like that? Like that’s her real hair? No extensions, no…”
ANCHOR 2: “That I don’t know-I would assume it’s extensions…"
ANCHOR 1: “Well, everyone does that in Hollywood nowadays anyway.”
ANCHOR 2: “Yeah- in the, in the entertainment business, I think that they use natural a little loosely, you know? Extensions might be an exception.”
ANCHOR 1: “Natural extensions, maybe?”
ANCHOR 2: “Exactly. It’s real hair, maybe.”

And the guys over at SodaHead don’t think we should jump to any conclusions about what’s next for Lady G.

“Gaga said of the shoot, ‘I don’t really view it as 'natural.' I think that artifice is the new reality’ … A nice sentiment, to be sure, but we somehow doubt that Ms. Germanotta will be dropping any part of the artifice for longer than a shoot.”

E! Online seems to agree, quoting the star as saying-

“‘I think what has been lovely about my relationship with the public is that they expect something unexpected from me.’ And what’s more unexpected from Lady Gaga than simplicity?’”
