On ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter,’ the queen of talk sat down with Jason Russell, the man behind the viral ‘KONY 2012’ campaign who wound up naked in the street, seemingly breaking down or on drugs.

Russell hasn’t spoken about the incident since, and in fact, spent a month in facilities under the care of health professionals. He tells Oprah drugs were in no way involved, he just had a psychotic episode.

“I don’t remember anything but like a half second.”
“I ran out to the front, and I think I was trying to ask cars to make to the airport in my  underwear.”
“I was so confused. I thought people were trying to kill me.”

Oprah also asked him about reports that he was masturbating in public on the video.

“I’m naked, so it’s not a far extension of imagination that that would be happening, but no, I don’t remember any of that.”

Russell’s wife, Danica, told Oprah she was afraid Jason would hurt himself. The family has since moved because their house was constantly under media surveillance.

As The Examiner points out, Russell also denied rumors that he is actually gay.

Though Gawker found that line of questioning quite bizarre, noting that just because someone is naked in the street -- well, that doesn’t mean they’re gay.

Russell ultimately blamed the breakdown on the rapid pressure that came with the movie’s sudden success, and said he should’ve distributed some of the responsibility more amongst his colleagues.
