Internet street fighting phenom Kimbo Slice is back, and he’s packing a different kind of punch. (sosoboxing)

Kimbo has left mixed martial arts in favor of boxing. That’s after being dropped from his UFC contract. He debuted Saturday with surprising results. East Side Boxing has the details...

“...he brutally [dispatched] novice James Wade in the very 1st-round of a scheduled four. With precious seconds of the fight gone, the huge, physically impressive Slice landed a monster right uppercut on Wade’s chin. Down and flat on his back for a worrying amount of time, there was no way Wade was going to beat the count..”

10 seconds-- that’s how long it took Kimbo to down his first boxing opponent. Despite his decisive win  many are recalling his disappointing career in the UFC. A writer for Fightline recalls a certain short round Kimbo suffered in MMA. (Youtube/CBS)

“The undersized Petruzelli knocked Slice out within the first fifteen seconds of the fight, an event which infamously triggered the demise of EliteXC. From there, Slice would join the cast of The Ultimate Fighter and parlay that experience into two fights in the UFC. He went 1-1 before getting cut, taking out Houston Alexander and then being beaten by Mitrione.”

A writer for Now Boxing shrugs off Kimbo’s UFC troubles -- he drops some big names saying with Kimbo’s overwhelming popularity and work ethic - boxing should fit him like a glove.

“Kimbo trained his butt off to learn the sport and no matter what, he showed he had a fighting heart and no quit. Now that he has made his jump into the boxing world at the age of 37, and showed that his power and bob and weave style is perfect for the sport...”
