ANCHOR ANA COMPAIN-ROMERO

Raunchy and Sleezy. That’s the chorus from outraged parents, angry at Kmart of Australia. All -- because of a line of girls underwear.

The Sydney Morning Herald explains.

“Call me, E-mail me, I love rich boys. This is the underwear Kmart is taking off the shelves after receiving a complaint about its slogans. It’s part of Girl Express brand aimed at their female youth market, not their junior buyers. . Part of Kmart’s girl XPress Brand which Kmart says is aimed at its female youth market, not its junior buyers.”

The criticism went viral with the Twitterati -- and became a global conversation. Collective Shout spokeswoman Melinda Tankard Reist campaigns against the sexual exploitation of woman.

She tells the Canberra Times, the slogans were and are completely inappropriate.

‘Why else would you put this sort of thing, such as ‘call me’ on underwear if you were not encouraging young women to flaunt their sexuality?”

Kmart immediately pulled the panties off the shelves, and acknowledged its mistake. A spokesman telling The Herald Sun....

“On behalf of Kmart, I apologise for the concerns caused by the slogans used on our female underwear and I have had them removed from all of our stores immediately … They are inappropriate and we will not be selling any such product in our stores moving forward. I sincerely apologise for our actions, this will not happen again”
