A new toy, a pet turtle -- things you’d expect a kid to bring for show-and-tell. But as KCTV explains, one Missouri kindergartner brought something he thought would smoke his competition.
“A crack pipe and several baggies of rocks, which later tested positive for methamphetamine were what the 6-year-old brought.”
Turns out, the pipe belonged to the youngster’s mom, but it isn’t crystal clear how the kindergartner got hold of it. Officials confirm the boy had one ounce of drugs, worth about $3,700.
KYTX reports, police were quick to crack down on the boy’s mother.
“His mother, 31-year-old Michelle Cheatham, faces charges of possession of controlled substance and first-degree child endangerment.”
Metro news quotes Police Chief Richard Downing who says he’s never heard of anything like this.
“'When I called the prosecutor about it, they said ‘You're kidding me, aren't you?’”
A writer on Gather says no matter how many drugs this woman is on, this is one incident that her small town of Sweet Springs will never forget.
“There's little doubt this kindergartner will forever be shamed by his mother's drug habit and by the fact he brought her crack pipe and Meth to school. That is one mistake that will forever haunt him and her unless they move elsewhere and she gets help with her druggie ways.”
According to a family friend, the 6-year-old is currently staying with relatives.
