Can you guess the star in this Old Navy ad?

If you answered Kim Kardashian -- the reality TV star may just have a case in a lawsuit she’s filed against Old Navy for using a lookalike in its ad.

Chicago’s WFLD explains
.

“Kardashian says Old Navy is using the fake Kim to sell its clothes, making people think it’s her. On top of that, Old Navy has been sending out tweets using the controversy to generate even more publicity. Kardashian says the ad campaign might confuse consumers, since Kardashian has her own line of clothing. She’s asking for damages and an end to the fake Kims.”

The ad, which aired back in February, actually stars a different dark-haired actress named Melissa Molinaro. The two may look similar, but is it enough to win a lawsuit? The Hollywood Reporter notes -- there is a legal precedent.

“Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis once got an injunction to prevent Christian Dior from featuring a look-alike in a print advertisement; Bette Midler once sued Ford Motors into submission for using a sound-alike to voice a television commercial touting one of its automobiles.”

But as a legal analyst says on The View-- its a tricky area of the law.

“This is an interesting area of the law. This is an area of the law where the public can be just as good a judge, as a judge. Because a judge is going to go through the process of saying how much does she look like her? Are they trying to fool us?”

A Forbes blogger points out -- Kim may not be too worried about the outcome of the lawsuit.

“...This might be more about publicity than justice. The Kardashians need a constant influx of juicy story lines to keep their show, Keeping up with the Kardashians, popular. Once the story line of Kim’s fairy tale wedding runs its course, a lawsuit might make for some good drama.”

In a final juicy twist, Access Hollywood offers another potential motive -- revenge.

“This story takes a little bit of a stranger twist. Melissa is reportedly dating Kim’s ex, Reggie Bush. Maybe that’s what she’s mad about. Those are fighting words.”

Kardashian has reportedly sued for 15 to 20 million dollars.
