A $10,000,000 wedding and 72 days later, Kim Kardashian is pulling the plug on her marriage to basketball star Kris Humphries. TMZ broke the story, reporting...
“We’re told even though the marriage was short, she will not seek an annulment. It’s a garden variety divorce, in which Kim cites ‘irreconcilable differences’ … the couple has a prenuptial agreement, Kim made sure of that.”
The blogosphere was skeptical to believe the news until Ryan Seacrest- who executive produces all things Kardashian- confirmed it via Twitter-
“Yes @kimkardashian is filing for divorce this morning. I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few mins”
The entertainment media ain’t too happy about the split, Perez Hilton writing he feels duped.
“CRAZY!!! We thought it would AT LEAST last as long as the first one!!! Hey, can we get our wedding gift back???”
But as ABC News suggests, this isn’t that big of a surprise-
ANDREA CANNING“This week’s cover of Us Weekly asks if Kim is ready to call it quits”
US WEEKLY EDITOR: “There seems to be a lot of tension here, whether it’s Kris not working. Or Kris not getting on with the rest of the Kardashian family.”
ANDREA CANNING “As for the newlyweds who have always been an open book, this time they had no comment.”
And a Cinema Blend blogger argues it’s a sad fact, but this is all part of the Kardashian publicity machine.
“What better way, really, than to guarantee your constant spot in the tabloids than feverish planning of a ridiculously expensive wedding? The only thing better is an acrimonious divorce, which I'm sure we'll be hearing plenty about in the coming months.”
Kim K hired divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, the rep for stars like Britney Spears and Maria Shriver in their splits. Expect to see all the drama play out on screen when ‘Kim and Kourtney Take New York’ premieres at the end of November on E!
