Breaking News! Kevin Bacon saw the new Footloose this weekend! … And he liked it?

The star posted a picture to his Who Say account of a ticket stub to Footloose 2.0. The surprising part? The congratulatory caption:

“F-Loose! Just saw it. Congrats to Craig, Kenny, Julianne, Dennis, Andie, Miles, and the rest of the cast. U guys rocked it!”

The approval came as a shock to some Footloose fans who took to the Internet to slam the concept of a remake. When Today posted the story on Facebook, many users commented that Bacon was probably “just being polite.” Some couldn’t believe he went to the remake — his wife even made it a point to say the pair wouldn’t attend. E! News has the inside scoop.

“Funny enough, Bacon's wife Kyra Sedgwick told me just a week ago that they had no plans to see ‘Footloose’ 2.0... The Closer star said at the Environmental Media Awards. ‘It's not on our list.’”

Bacon not only turned down a role in the reboot, but voiced disapproval over some of its TV commercials:

Girl: “I saw the original — this one was a lot better.”
Girl: "It was fun to be able to watch it together"
Mom: "It was better than the original!"

After seeing those, Bacon took to Twitter to express his disappointment:

“Just saw the TV ad for FLoose. Marketing a remake by putting down the orig? A bit lame dont ya think?

But was Bacon just jealous? The Huffington Post reports, one thing about the new flick “disturbed him.” This time around, the studio casted professional dancers in the lead roles. Back in the day, Bacon was passed over in favor of five dance doubles. The star opens up to People.com:

"Are you kidding? I was furious. It's like a starting
pitcher getting taken out of a game – no one wants to be told they can't get the guy out.”

Dance double or not, Kenny Wormald, the new star of remake is not shy about his favorite lead. He took to Twitter to tell Bacon, “you’re still my favorite Ren.” New Footloose is now playing in theatres everywhere.
