Greg Gutfeld: So, is there a top secret group of liberal journalists hell-bent on shoving their agenda into every seemingly unbiased story they report on? Yeah, sure! But now Andrew Breitbart is out to prove it once again... offering 100-grand to anyone who hands over the archives of something called ‘JournoList’.” (Fox News)
Conservative media outlets are crying foul over an alleged conspiracy by left-wing columnists to shape the outcome of the 2008 election. They say they have proof. But is this the right-wing media attacking the left for its own gain... or has the Daily Caller, who broke the story, uncovered a bomb shell?
The Daily Caller says it has documented proof of a private conversation between liberal journalists to promote a pro-Obama agenda during the 2008 presidential election campaign and to create a smokescreen diversion accusing the GOP of racism — all of it from a discussion group called JournoList.
“In one instance, Spencer Ackerman of the Washington Independent urged his colleagues to deflect attention from Obama’s relationship with [Wright by changing the subject. Pick one of Obama’s conservative critics, Ackerman wrote, ‘Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares — and call them racists.’”
On Fox News, The Daily Caller’s Neil Patel outlines who was a part of the discussion.
Megyn Kelly: "Who’s in there, Neil? Is it all left-wing columnists? Because that’s one thing if you’ve got a left-wing columnist for a left-wing magazine, you know, okay. I mean, they identify themselves as opinion people."
Neil Patel: "It’s definitely a combination. I would say the most aggressive commentators are the so-called left-wing columnists, but you have representatives of virtually every major media institution on the group represented.”
Conservative political blogger Andrew Breitbart of BigJournalism says this revelation is proof of a left-wing media conspiracy and marks the death of the belief in unbiased American journalism.
“The ends justify the means for the Democrat Media Complex. They lie when they claim to be objective. They lie when they claim to be unbiased, because these so called ‘truth seekers’ are guilty of engaging in open political warfare.”
But trained lawyer and techcrunch.com founder Michael Arrington says journalists who give opinions on gay marriage, tax cuts or even politics is completely acceptable — and even encouraged.
“Michael Arrington: I’ve learned over time the way to gain reader trust is to aim for the truth instead of objectivity."
Howard Kurtz: "The truth as interpreted by you, of course."
Arrington: "Well, of course, but all truth is interpreted. I don’t know how to write something that is objective because I’m not a computer.”

But Mediaite says this is the pot calling the kettle black. Right-wingers trying to justify the left-wing media conspiracy — they’ve always alleged. And says, right wingers trying to claim impartiality — isn’t believable.
“The irony, of course, is that the Daily Caller is using journalism in an attempt to shift the political landscape, which is the exact charge they level... Which is worse: a journalist who strives to be objective but is seen as partisan — or one who strives to be partisan and is seen as objective?”
So what do you think? Is this proof of a left-wing media conspiracy? Or do members of both the right and left in media try to manipulate the message?
