A celebrity endorsement for Mitt Romney Monday:

CSPAN: “What an honor to be introduced by none other than John Elway. What an extraordinary man.”

In a statement Hall of Fame quarterback and former Denver Bronco
John Elway called Romney a proven leader with the experience and background to turn around our struggling economy.”

Elway appeared at a Rally for George W Bush in 2004, and at the time called him a man who “knows how to make the right calls when the pressure is on.”

Interesting to note here, is the endorsement of the former quarterback was announced in Denver, which is where President Obama accepted the Democratic Party’s nomination in 2008, AND where the president and his Republican challenger are set to debate for the first time this election cycle on Wednesday.

On the other side of the coast, New York Jets owner Woody Johnson also offered an endorsement of the Romney camp, leading to this headline from Drudge — “NFL Bigs Go Romney.”

We’re talking TWO NFL bigs. But never mind. Of the Elway endorsement, Romney said in a statement he’s “proud to have him on the team.”
