And the plot thickens. The woman who cried wolf after allegedly receiving threatening emails from CIA Director David Petraeus’ mistress apparently has some skeletons in her closet as well. The Daily Mail reports:

“Now that the state of their finances has been exposed, speculation is rife Jill [Kelley] broke the scandal so she could make money from it … Court records show [the Kelleys] owed the bank nearly $2.2 million, including attorney fees …  Regions Bank, meanwhile, is trying to foreclose on the couple's historic $1.3million waterfront house, claiming they defaulted on a $271,000-credit line with their five bedroom house as collateral.”

But there’s more to the story than Jill Kelley’s lack of finances. CBS reports:

As a fixture in Tampa’s social circuit, Jill Kelley is used to being in the spotlight-- but not like this. She may be the center of a new scandal involving General John Allen.

Allen, the top US Commander in Afghanistan, that is. Kelley lives in Tampa with her husband Scott, a surgeon. NBC and HLN have more.

"Kelley's initial complaint that she had received harassing e-mails from Petraeus' alleged lover Paula Broadwell set off the initial fbi investigate into the Petraeus affair."

"Basically they are looking at between 20,000 and 30,000 pages, most of them e-mails, set between General Allen, and Jill Kelley down in Florida between 2010 and 2012."

The Pentagon is now investigating the emails between Kelley and Allen, which HLN also mentioned could be inappropriate. According to the Christian Post, Kelley recently hired Monica Lewinsky’s crisis manager.

If the Pentagon determines Allen did indeed have an affair, he faces being court-marshalled, which would end his 40-year army career. Allen was set to be the next NATO commander for Europe, a nomination now on hold.
